19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging period, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after that period of 2023.
Success also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.
His retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.
Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
