The star has handed over the full amount of his £25,000 award winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the United Kingdom's independent concert spaces.

Fender was presented with the cheque on 16 October as his latest record his work was named the top album of the previous year.

The musician has decided to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part grassroots venues fulfilled in his initial steps.

"I personally would not have achieved what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the performances I did around the region, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these locations have permanently closed – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, well-known musicians including Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their admission fees, which supports local stages.

Fender also joined in, generating more than £100,000 on his recent tour to help thirty-eight grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation assisted spaces that were dealing with possible closure due to challenges arising from floods, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues obtained funding support in modernizing amenities and sound and lighting systems that helped artists and audiences.

"The idea that money from shows in major spaces supports the smaller venues, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has commented.

He is among several artists to donate his honor funds to charitable organizations.

Back when Pulp earned the trophy in 1996 for their record their work, vocalist the singer declared that the group would donate their cash to the charity War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer the artist split her bounty across a few organizations, including the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I contributed a thousand pounds to the center, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked better apparatus," Ms Dynamite explained to the media.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective donated their winnings to the local youth club that nurtured their band, in addition to other independent music bodies.

And 1994 winners M People gave their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was identified with the condition.

"The victory was ample," said vocalist Heather Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our victory affected another person's life."

In the past week, the trust shared it had saved two local spots in that region, by transferring them to community ownership.

The first in the city and the second in that location were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is funded by a national body and music fans who buy "stakes" in the buildings.
